Programs for Schools
I will start by asking who the students' heroes are, then transition to masks and how we they were a sign of protecting others and how I decided to write the book (working on front lines of COVID as an emergency physician, remote learning/teaching with Kaili, wanting more representation in children's books), reading one of my books, with slides of all the illustrations. I will ask kids to share their superpowers and how they can be heroes. Presentations will be adopted for younger vs. older groups.  I can do virtual and in-person visits.  Age appropriate lesson plans can be included during presentation if time allows or given to teachers to be used later.

ORDERING BOOKS

When I visit your school, students, teachers, and staff can purchase the book directly from my publisher Candlewick Press at a special 40% school discount! I will sign and personalize the books.

1. First, email Candlewick Press, at appearances@candlewick.com.

​

2. Use this order form (or edit it), and fill in the blanks. 5 weeks before my visit, please share forms with teachers and students so they can take it home to their parents.

3. Flyers are returned with names of students and funds (check or Paypal/Venmo/Zelle to your school or PTO. Once funds for number of books confirmed, you can place book order. Please place your order 4 weeks prior to visit.  I will sign all books on day of visit - please have a post-it note on the front of each book with name clearly written for personalization.

4. Instead of ordering books from the publisher, schools can partner with a local bookstore as it is less work for schools and it supports local bookstores.
